Pecan Pie Bars

If you're like me, occasionally it can seem tedious to make a pie from scratch. greater than whatever it’s the wait for the pie crust to sit back that receives me. those however, are a lot easier to make than a pie and they flavor simply as correct. yes, all of us love the conventional pies however from time to time in the course of the vacations isn’t it quality to look something new at the table? A twist on a traditional? i like any dessert in bar shape so I new I needed to strive out those pecan pie bars. those of direction could be ideal for Thanksgiving or they could also be brilliant to offer as presents. And no person needs to recognise that they didn’t take hours to prepare.

Shortbread Crust

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter , softened
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste or 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup packed light-brown sugar

Pecan Topping

  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tsp orange zest (optional)
  • 2 cups roughly chopped pecans
  • 2 Tbsp heavy cream

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a thirteen by using 9-inch baking dish with foil, leaving a -inch overhang on all facets. in the bowl of an electric powered stand mixer, whip 1 cup butter with 2/3 cup brown sugar and half of tsp salt until faded and fluffy. blend in vanilla bean paste. With mixer set on low pace, slowly add in flour and mix till dough starts offevolved to return collectively in crumbles. Press mixture into an even layer in organized baking dish and bake in preheated oven 20 minutes, or until edges are golden.
  2. in the meantime prepare the topping through melting collectively half cup butter, brown sugar, honey, heavy cream and salt in a heavy-bottomed medium saucepan set over medium warmth. Simmer aggregate 1 minute, then stir in orange zest and pecans.
  3. Pour pecan aggregate over warm shortbread and unfold into a fair layer. go back to oven and bake till pinnacle is effervescent, approximately 20 minutes. permit to cool completely on a cord rack (you may cool inside the refrigerator or freezer to hurry up cooling) then, using foil overhang elevate bars out and reduce into squares. keep in an hermetic container.
